NEW YORK, April 15, 2011 -
NYSE Euronext today announced the release date for its updated Intellidex series of indexes that will be effective at the open of trading on June 2, 2011. The Intellidex indexes were developed by NYSE Euronext and leverages the company’s operational and listed product expertise to implement a uniquely focused, quantitatively-based methodology. Designed to offer investors a series of indexes with a comprehensive range of fundamental and quantitative characteristics, the Intellidex products have been enhanced to offer an even greater depth and refinement of various key weights and factors  that enable investors to choose among and execute a wide range of sophisticated strategies,

Key enhancements to the model include:

  • The extensive evaluation of hundreds of new factors using the latest statistical tools to arrive at key factors and weights for each of the Intellidex indexes.
  • The use of factors and factor weights that best reflect the respective sector, industry and/or style.

Originally, the factor weighting was similar across the range of Intellidex sectors, industries and styles.  The updated model will employ a powerful fine-tuning methodology whereby each Intellidex index uses a unique factor weighting scheme which best represents its sector, industry or style. NYSE Euronext has owned, calculated and maintained the indexes, which provide the basis for the Dynamic series of PowerShares ETFs, since 2003.
